    Department Overview

    EC Marketplace Development Department (ECMPD) is a tech division under Rakuten Commerce & Marketing Company of Rakuten Inc. We are responsible for developing and enhancing our online system to support our core business, Rakuten Ichiba.

    Rakuten Ichiba is one of the largest internet shopping malls in Japan with 5.6 trillion sales in 2022 and our business is growing year on year. We aim to provide the best shopping entertainment for our shoppers and empower our partners in Rakuten Ichiba.

    As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading to deliver some of the biggest project within Japan. This is a great chance for project manager to be involve in sizable EC platform project management. building new system or enhancing the functionality of our B2B & B2C platform by utilizing the latest technologies.

    This position requires 4-6+ years of experience in project management in software development and familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Perform a variety of tasks. Lead and direct the work of other team members. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment.

    Position Details

    Responsibilities:

    Senior Project management responsibilities include the coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and within scope. Oversee all aspects of projects. Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress of project. Prepare reports for uppermanagement regarding status of project.

    The successful candidate will work directly with stakeholders to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. He or she will coordinate with other departments to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible and will hire new talent as needed to fulfill our mission.

    Position Details:

  • Plan the Project (Setting the Goal, Planning for the Milestone and Critical Path, Planning forthe internal/external Project Dependency, Planning for Test and Release, Planning forBudget, Creating the Schedule)
  • Deliver the Project and Manage the Progress (Judgement and Decision Making, Process Management, Task Tracking, Quality Management, Budget and Cost Management, Planning Change Management)
  • Manage the Communication (Stakeholder Management, Facilitation for the Project Members Communication, Reporting)
  • Risk management
  • Issue management and problem solving
  • Project Management Best Practices Improvement
  • Mentoring Junior Project Manager

    • Mandatory Qualifications :

  • 4-6+ years of Software Development experience as main project manager of sizable projects. (Project with 50+ project members)
  • Software Development Technology knowledges
  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Excellence in Issues and Risk Management
  • Decision Making and Problem-Solving skills
  • Excellence in Communication skills, capable to minimize communication gap between stakeholders
  • Excellence in reporting, presentation & meeting facilitation.
  • Expert in Jira/ Confluence and other Project management Tools
  • Fast learner with Positive leadership mindset
  • Strong 'commitment' mindset for leading project to completion
  • Experience in working directly with software engineers, product managers, and business partners.

  • Project Management certified (e.g. PMP)
