Department Overview
We are looking for staff or manager candidate to join the Tax Department of Rakuten Group, Inc.
As taxes have a significant impact on a company's cash flow, our activities are not limited to mere tax reporting and account closing, but also be a partner with business team to closely tax-support for business start-ups and M&A from the beginning as well as the planning and implementation of international tax strategies. The responsibility for for our tax work is one-stop shop from planning state to implementation, operation. It is required to collaborate beyond tax team with accounting, business, legal, HR. This enables you to gain corporate knowledge and experience that goes beyond the tax domain.

Tax Section
■ You will be responsible for understanding and complying with the increasingly complex taxation system each year and promoting proper tax reporting (consolidated tax payments are being introduced). You will also be involved in the monthly recording of taxes and public dues, quarterly recording of income taxes, and accounting for tax effect accounting, in cooperation with the accounting department.
Review of each tax return (preparation is handled by the advisory tax accountant).
Information and communication with advisory tax accountants.
The company is also responsible for the preparation of the tax return and the accounting for tax effects.
Recording of corporate tax, business tax, consumption tax not deductible, and business office tax.
Withholding income tax compilation and preparation of statutory reports.
■In addition to tax declaration work, the following tax advice and governance is required, mainly in the domestic market.
Providing tax advice to business units and group companies.
Establishment of a tax governance system for the purpose of understanding the tax matters of each group company and sharing tax cases, etc.
Developing and implementing policies to deal with tax system reforms.
Prepare tax audit correspondence and National Tax Inquiry documents.
International Tax Section
The International Tax Section's mission is to (i) strengthen tax governance, (ii) ensure tax compliance, and (iii)create and carry out tax planning. In order to carry out its mission, the Section is required to work closely with overseas subsidiaries and perform the following tasks.
Assessing the tax position of each overseas subsidiary and supporting tax audits
Confirmation of tax provision of each overseas subsidiary in the consolidated financial accounts.
Compliance with Japan's CFC anti-tax haven taxation system.
Gathering and preparation of information for BEPS documentation (local files, master files, CbCR, etc.)
Compliance with digital services tax in each country.
Liaise with overseas tax teams.
Support for acquisitions of overseas companies (review of structures, review of measures to deal with tax DD results) and start-up support.
Pillar 2 compliance
Management of transfer pricing and documentation
Planning, proposing and execution on tax planning from a global perspective. t.
Project management for the implementation of tax strategy.
Future opportunity
Direct reporting opportunities to management, including the CFO
Contribution to and involvement in the Rakuten Group as a whole, including the establishment and improvement of cross-group tax policies.
Planning and organizing tax training for back offices and business units other than the tax department.
Opportunities to exchange information and make recommendations on tax policy with various organizations such as the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Finance, New Economy Alliance, etc.
Opportunities to communicate in English with native English speakers and persons in charge of overseas subsidiaries.
Consideration of tax structuring for transactions such as M&A, fundraising and intra-group restructuring
Mandatory Qualifications:
Experience in tax-related work at a tax accounting firm, or business company (3-5 years or more)
Experience in consolidated taxation and tax effect accounting.
Communication skill/proactive communication with stakeholders (Although there are times when you need to think things through during the planning stage, you need to be able to move around and talk to a lot of people, not just work at a desk.)
Flexibility in fast-paced business development.
Business level English and Japanese skills
