- Contribute to the creation of the spectrum strategy for Rakuten Mobile, Inc.
- Evaluate interference between 5G systems and other systems in co-channel and adjacent channels, and negotiate with third parties such as other mobile network operators and satellite operators.
- Optimize the parameter settings of the 5G base station from the perspective of interference control.
- Contribute to the Space Mobile project, which aims to provide direct communication between low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites and smartphones.
- Attend domestic and international meetings related to rule-making for spectrum allocation for new services such as satellite direct-to-cell.
- Deep knowledge in the radio/wireless communication field (+3 years of experience in related field, or technical background equivalent to such experience)
- Excellent communication skills in Japanese
- Solid understanding the link budget and PHY of the current cellular networks including 5G and LTE
- Familiar with radio propagation models, antenna patterns
- Holds radio operator license of Japan, certified as Chief Telecommunications Engineer
- Familiar with the radio propagation related simulation tools
- Familiar with standard like ITU-R, 3GPP, etc
- Familiar with Japanese Radio regulations

Our department is responsible of the spectrum strategy for Rakuten mobile.
To acquire the new spectrum, we must prepare the plan (i.e, the deployment plan of our 5G) to utilize such spectrum. For the acquired spectrum, we should evaluate the interference to/from the 5G systems and make interference prevention solutions. For the new service such as space mobile, we need to coordinate with both domestic and international stakeholders for spectrum allocation and implementation of regulation.
Our department's initiative aims to balance contributions to society with individual growth.
