Department Overview
Rakuten Kobo is the world leading e-book service enjoyed by more than 4 million users in over 100 countries. It is also known as one of the major players in Japan e-book market which is growing. This position is for business administration of Kobo Japan, aiming to be the top player in the market.
The Business Management Group is a team that is responsible for budgeting, performance management, various data analysis, and market research to drive the overall strategy of the Kobo Japan business. They work in collaboration with various groups within the Kobo Japan business (such as the sales department, marketing department) and the management organization of Rakuten to lead the formulation and implementation of strategies for business growth.

Position Details
The position we are recruiting for will involve extensive responsibility in the business management of Kobo Japan. You will have the opportunity to work directly with business leaders and general managers to develop and drive business strategies.
Financial accounting tasks including budgeting
Management accounting to visualize management issues
Data analysis, such as LTV/CAC analysis, to understand various departmental challenges
Market research, consumer surveys, and all other necessary research for business strategy development
Creating reporting materials for the management team

(1 manager, 1 vice manager, 2 employees,2 Support members)
All 6 members of the group are mid-career hires and career changers from different industries.
The managerial staff have relevant practical experience and can provide thorough support during the onboarding process.
Mandatory Qualifications:
Approximately 3 years of practical experience in business management, accounting, or finance
Experience in budgeting and budget management
Microsoft Excel skills for analysis (practical experience with functions such as VLOOKUP, COUNTIF, and pivot tables, etc.)
English language skills at a conversational level
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in the digital content industry and web industry
Experience in business planning and strategic planning
Advanced quantitative data analysis skills
Advanced communication skills to effectively communicate with General Managers
Strong interest in books, magazines, comics, and digital content
Business-level proficiency in English (There are some collaboration tasks with Rakuten Kobo Inc., headquartered in Toronto, Canada, and there is a possibility of overseas business trips for those with the necessary skills)

Additional information on English Qualification
TOEIC Score exceeding 800 (or similar level of English ability) or a University Degree earned in an English-speaking country
*TOEIC Score of 600 or higher is acceptable for fixed-term employees.
In this case, it is necessary to achieve a TOEIC Score exceeding 800 after joining Rakuten to be eligible to become a regular employee.
If no evidence is available to prove the qualifications denoted above, taking an IP test, organized by Rakuten, during selection process is required.
