Department Overview
The Business Innovation Department within the Commerce & Marketing Company primarily launches and operates new businesses in the lodging, travel, and leisure fields.
We operate the 'Rakuten STAY business, which operates accommodation facilities with our own brand, the 'Vacation STAY' business, which is an accommodation and private lodging reservation site, and the 'Rakuten Travel Experience' business, which is an activity reservation site.

In the M&A Planning and Business PMI Office, you will plan the acquisition of accommodation facilities in Japan and abroad for the further expansion of Rakuten STAY, and be involved in the acquisition process as the actual deal driver. After the acquisition is completed, you will also be involved in the business of the acquired company from a business perspective in order to create synergies. Therefore, the department is able to take charge of the entire process from acquisition-related planning to PMI.

Why We Hire
Until now, we have developed accommodation facilities under the Rakuten STAY brand in more than 40 locations, based on unmanned operations. In the next phase, we will acquire manned accommodation facilities through M&A and other means, promote DX in the accommodation business, and accelerate moves to further increase the value of staying at accommodation facilities.
We are looking for people who can work together with us with a sense of speed and satisfaction as core personnel to further grow the Rakuten STAY business and provide new accommodation experiences to guests.
Position Details
Starting with M&A (mergers and acquisitions) for accommodation facilities (hotels, inns, guest houses, pensions, recreation centres, etc.) to accelerate the development of 'Rakuten STAY' brand facilities, and including the subsequent integration process, PMI (post merger integration: management integration, business integration, awareness integration). Leading the M&A process, committed to maximising business value, promoting alliances for the development of accommodation facilities and overall M&A operations.
Main tasks as follows.
The entire process of various alliances, investments and M&A operations, from origination and execution to PMI
Involve management, relevant departments and external partners in the overall project management of activities while building consensus
Contributing to post-merger business growth by working with each business unit to formulate, review and organise investment and M&A strategies
Work Environment
The M&A Strategy Office employs a total of five people and comprises the following groups.
1.M&A Planning and Business PMI Group
2. the M&A Promotion Group
3. the Administration PMI Group
Mandatory Qualifications:
Experience in mergers and acquisitions
Knowledge of corporate finance
Project management experience
Experience in PMI-related work at a business or consulting company, or experience in business planning/business development/business planning/starting up a new business at a business company
Microsoft Office skills (Excel/PPT)
At least 5 years' working experience
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience in finance/legal/accounting/taxation/corporate governance
English (native level)
Experience in real estate investment
Experience of working for a travel agency (real, OTA, foreign company, etc.)
