- Manage actuarial matters to execute each quotation
- Maintain Terms of Trade, i.e. the detailed terms on which business can be written, for all major lines of business, and initiation of regular experience studies in support of these terms
- Identify/develop products to meet client needs through extensive analysis of market trend, geographical changes, social welfare system changes and offshore market trend, utilising regional input as needed
- Develop new business opportunities through delivery of new product ideas and/or product development support
- Support the professional development of actuaries in Japan Branch, including updating the team and the regional team on relevant developments in the Japanese insurance industry.
- Maintain strong relationships with key clients including liaising on product development projects and delivery of presentations.
- You have proven track record in managing pricing and product development initiatives in a direct insurance / reinsurance setting. Candidate without managerial experience but with strong experience in direct / reinsurance pricing will also be considered.
- You are a qualified actuary with 10+ years' actuarial experience with strong technical understanding of L&H re/insurance
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. With the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders in English and in Japanese.
- You have a strategic mind-set, with strong vision of business direction.
- You are knowledgeable about products, product development and product trends in the market. You have experience of using and applying actuarial pricing tools, preferably AXIS. Knowledge of R is also preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding about the Japanese (re)insurance industry and the local insurance regulations.
- You consider yourself to be able to lead and motivate team colleagues, whilst also being able to act as a good team player when needed.

About the Role: Position summary & Main tasks/activities
Reporting to the Head L&H Pricing Japan, the candidate will be responsible to lead pricing and product development written by the Japan office accordance with relevant technical guidelines and the Terms of Trade. The candidate will also be responsible for developing new business opportunities in close cooperation with client managers, underwriters and other units, by developing new product offerings; by identifying joint product development opportunities; and by structuring solutions mainly from a traditional reinsurance perspective.
Major responsibilities:
The team consists of 5 members currently located in Japan. This team will also work closely with the Pricing and Experience support team located in Bangalore.
