    Position Overview

    Originate financially motivated reinsurance opportunities and assist the execution of reinsurance transactions for our clients in Japan.

    Responsibilities

    Work with the Director, Business Development, GFS Japan on, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Learn the core GFS (Global Financial Solutions) product offerings to provide the tailer-made reinsurance solution for the capital / financial needs of life insurance companies in Japan
  • Assist with the management of deal execution of large asset intensive reinsurance transaction and other GFS transactions, from start through to completion
  • Develop internal relationships with other RGA stakeholders, such as GFS Pricing, Investment Solutions and Treaty teams
  • Assist with developing new reinsurance opportunities, in close coordination with other client facing teams in Japan branch
  • Develop knowledge of the primary insurance market in Japan, particularly key players, their strategies, and products
  • Develop an understanding of the (re)insurance regulatory environment in Japan, including accounting and capital
  • Develop relationships with other key players in the Japan insurance market e.g. consultants, investment banks and industry bodies
  • Contribute to the establishment of RGA and GFS as a recognized provider of financially motivated reinsurance solutions throughout Asia Pacific
  • Participate and, where needed, lead ad-hoc department projects as needed.
  • Requirements

    Required

  • Sound interpersonal skills to help manage deal execution with internal and external stakeholders
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in actuarial, investment, corporate planning or finance department in Life Insurance/Reinsurance, consulting firms or relevant industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of life insurance, health insurance, and/or annuity products
  • A good team player and enjoy working with colleagues in Japan and globally
  • Ability to take ownership in projects and drive them to completion
  • Fluency in Japanese and English
  • Preferred

  • Actuarial qualifications (IAJ, SOA, etc)
  • Understanding of ALM techniques, including derivatives, and capital markets approaches
  • ESR, financial reporting or accounting experience and/or training
  • Pricing experience of life insurance, health insurance, longevity, and/or annuity products
  • Project management skills
