    Technical Consumer Research is a group in GDI (Global Development & Innovation) in R&D, responsible for leading and managing market, consumer and sensory researches to guide innovations. The Technical Consumer Research Scientist works closely with R&D categories and business teams to understand business needs, project objective, and navigate projects with market and consumer insights through strategic research planning, quality executions and integrated data analysis/interpretation.

    Key Responsibilities/Duties:


    •Understand and define fundamental consumer/sensory requirements of your categories and inject the knowledge into solution development.


    •Work as a close partner with the R&D categories, Marketing and Human Insight teams to understand business needs, define project objectives, and provide strategic research plan.


    •Gain market trend and consumer insights through primary and secondary research data to identify new innovation spaces, issues, and provide guidance on product development.


    •Lead the designing, execution, statistical analysis, data interpretation, and reporting for all stages of consumer and sensory researches to gain consumer feedbacks, and provide recommendation to project teams.


    •Closely connect with internal and external network to explore/develop new methodologies, continues improve current TCR projects management processes and work quality/efficiency.

    Job requirements & Related Work Experience:


    • Bachelor's degree in food science, bio/chemical/physical science with a concentration/major in sensory science, behavioral psychology or applied statistics. Masters Degree/ PhD is ideal.


    • Preferably 3 years of consumer/shopper/market research or sensory science work experience in preferably food/beverage/FMCG industry.


    • Proficient in spoken and written English and Japanese.

    • Sound knowledge of sensory and consumer testing techniques and principles including statistics, description.


    • Communication skills including presentations, negotiations, meeting organizations, constructive discussions.
