What is the opportunity?

As the Associate Director, Head of Finance, Japan, you will be responsible for leading the Finance team in Japan building a highly motivated and capable team. You will partner with Japan business leaders and senior management to enable delivery of Japan and APAC strategy.

What will you do?

• Management of the team in Tokyo and in Malaysia (oversight)
• To partner with and support the Japan business leaders to attain their financial and strategic objectives by supplying accurate and timely financial and management information including business plans and forecasts
• Financial Control: IFRS and Japanese GAAP and statutory reporting to Head Office
• Timely and accurate review of Bank Branch and Securities regulatory reports
• Liaison with Japanese regulators when required
• Legal entity / statutory reporting
• Management reporting and performance analysis
• Review of tax working papers in support of the annual tax return
• Liaison with tax authorities when required
• To assist with the establishment and implementation and monitoring of appropriate policies for Tokyo Finance
• To develop/update procedure manuals for key processes and operations, reviewed and updated at least annually.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• CA or CPA accounting qualification
• 10-15 years Banking/ Financial Institution and management experience
• Detailed working knowledge of IFRS and Japanese GAAP
• Regulatory experience with both Bank and Securities firm reporting
• Management experience for a small team
• Self motivated, with a professional attitude and presentation
• Good interpersonal and team skills
• High level reading skill (English and Japanese) to interpret relevant laws and regulations
• Business level of English is required
• Competent PC skills

Nice-to-have

• Highly developed PC skills – Microsoft programs
• Audit background or experience
