- Work closely with other scientists and engineers to review and improve your model design proposals.
- Partner with product managers and other business stakeholders, documenting and explaining your progress in business reviews, and being the technical voice in charge of your product.
- Spot opportunities for innovation and scientific publications, and publish to internal or external conferences.
- Be active in the community, participating in science education/growth activities.
- Keep up to date with scientific development in the field.
- 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
- PhD in CS, CE, or related technical field and 5+ years of applied research experience or Master's degree and 10+ years of applied research experience
- Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikitlearn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.
- Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.

The JP Retail Science team is looking for an Applied Scientist to build statistical and ML models directly for Amazon's largest vendors, working directly with ProServe consultants and Vendors' senior leaders to tackle their most critical problems in eCommerce.
At Amazon Vendor Services (AVS) we are rapidly building a new service line, new not only to Amazon Japan but in the World Wide marketplace.
Our AVS Professional Services (ProServe) team will go deep with our largest and most sophisticated vendor customers, combining elite client-service skills with cutting edge data science techniques, backed up by Amazon's 20+ years of experience in Japan.
We start from the customer's problem and work backwards to apply distinctive results that "only Amazon" can deliver.You will work within an international team of scientists and engineers, all based in Tokyo, Japan. We are a team that thrives on growth, both personal and professional. Engage in academic collaborations, spark innovation in hackathons, and expand your horizons with conference visits.

As an Applied Scientist, your responsibilities will be:
In this position, you will be part of the JP Retail Science team, consisting of scientists and business intelligence engineers collaborating with Product Managers and Software Developers worldwide.
Our current projects touch on the areas of causal inference, representation learning, anomaly detection, NLP and forecasting.Apart of working on AVS ProServe, you will be exposed to all other projects the team works on:

We place strong emphasis on continuous learning through internal mechanisms for our team members to keep on growing their expertise and keep up with the state of the art.
