The Head of Material Excellence is a leadership role within GSK Japan responsible for driving efficiency compliance of contents review across the function This includes setting strategic direction aligning local objectives with global policy evolving regulatory requirements Designing implementing maintaining governance frameworks KPIs KRIs to measure assure effectiveness of content review copy approval processes Leading organizational structure talent acquisition capability development performance management succession planning for Material Excellence function Ensuring robust monitoring audit programs in place reviewing findings driving timely corrective actions systemic improvements Championing digital transformation process optimization initiatives enhancing review efficiency traceability quality Managing stakeholder relationships across business representing GSK Japan in discussions with regulators industry bodies global counterparts on matters related to sales information provision promotional materials Promoting embedding compliance-first culture acting role model Do Right Thing delivering training change management reinforcing expected behaviors Leading developing specialists in Material Excellence team enabling collaborative approach business ensuring compliance copy approval People Leadership Accountabilities Provide visible credible leadership Medical organisation demonstrate GSK leadership behaviours accountability collaboration courage inclusivity Create high-performing culture through role modelling talent development constructive feedback recognition programsQualifications
- 5+ years relevant experience pharmaceutical/ biotech industry regulated environment progressive responsibility medical affairs regulatory affairs compliance quality content/materials governance
- People Management & Leadership Proven experience leading scaling multidisciplinary teams managers/directors specialists demonstrable track record hiring performance management coaching succession planning leading organisational change Experience operating senior leadership level influencing executive stakeholders
- Technical expertise Deep knowledge pharmaceutical promotion regulations medical governance healthcare compliance frameworks industry codes e g JPMA PMDA-related guidance MHLW guidelines Review approval experience Hands-on experience content/copy review approval processes promotional non-promotional materials SOP development deviations handling Risk governance Demonstrated experience establishing governance risk management KPIs KRIs audit remediation programmes Stakeholder management Strong track record influencing partnering Medical Commercial Legal Regulatory Global counterparts ability operate senior leadership level present executives Regulatory engagement Experience liaising regulatory authorities industry bodies preferred Digital process improvement Familiarity content management systems workflow tools experience digital transformation automation initiatives openness leveraging AI-enabled tools Communication Excellent written verbal communication skills English Japanese ability create clear guidance training materials executive reports Education Bachelor degree required advanced degree e g Master PharmD MD postgraduate qualification preferred Analytical decision-making Strong problem-solving skills data-driven mindset ability make principled decisions ambiguous situations Ethical mindset Demonstrated commitment compliance integrity promoting Do Right Thing culture
