- Adopting an initiative-taking, lead role in the research project and ensuring its timely progress.
- Publishing research results in international peer-reviewed journals and presenting the work at international conferences.
- Being a good team player by working in close coordination with other unit members and external collaborators.
- Co-supervising junior unit members, including PhD students and interns.
- Participating in group meetings and contributing to the intellectual environment of the unit. Qualifications
- A PhD degree in molecular biology, structural biology, biochemistry, marine biology, or other project-relevant fields.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in cryo-electron tomography (sample preparation / data collection / data processing and analysis). Similar experience in single-particle cryo-EM also qualifies.
- Experience working with cnidarians, in particular corals.
- Experience with wet lab methodology (molecular and cell biology, -omics, genome editing, phage display).
- Experience in wet lab method development or demonstrable creative usage of existing wet lab techniques. Interest in learning new project-relevant methods.
- Familiarity with Unix-based operating systems, bash scripting. Python programming skills are a plus.
- Ability to visualize research results in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
