    Senior Specialist, People Business Partner

    About this role:

    As a member of the People Organisation, you will work closely with your manager to implement the people programs and initiatives in compliance with all local regulations, laws and employment standards and ensure smooth people operations in Japan. These programs and initiatives include all aspects of the employee's life cycle: talent management and development, talent acquisition, organisational design and development, employee relations, company culture and colleague experience.

    How you will make an impact:

    Company Culture and Colleague Experience

  • Work closely with reporting manager to enhance colleague experience and engagement in Japan through the development and implementation of local strategies that improve colleague retention and support diversity and inclusion efforts
  • Support local onboarding needs
  • Drive local activities to ensure learning, professional development and career progression
  • Employee Relations

  • Provide support in all Employee Relations matters
  • Provide support in employee relations investigations to achieve resolutions for colleagues and leaders
  • Provide support during organisation change and restructuring efforts, performance improvement process, etc
  • Local HR Operations

  • Ensure compliance with country regulations and support legal entity efforts
  • Member of Japan Country Leadership team as advisor and support for local initiatives and challenges
  • Provide HR support for local implementation of Global Work Model
  • Provide support in crisis management efforts, aligned with GCMT
  • Provide support in administering local benefits, aligned with market data, local legislation guidance and Wiley positioning
  • Provide support in any M&A or Global Mobility related efforts
  • Maintain related employment documents for colleagues' p-files and act as point of contact for audits
  • Effective HR Delivery Model

  • Partner closely with Centres of Excellence (People Service Centre, Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, etc) to deliver human resource services and resolve issues
  • Work closely with reporting manager to execute Corporate and People Team initiatives and drive local adoption
  • Consult COEs with local knowledge and laws to inform decisions
  • What we look for:

  • Diploma in Business Administration, major in HR Management would be ideal
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant HR / administrative experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate across multiple geographies and organisation levels
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of employment-related compliance regulations in Japan
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills for English and Japanese (Native)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
