    Front Office Operations – Trading and Analytics

    Position purpose

    We are seeking a Junior Analyst with a focus on power analytics to join our team. This entry-level position will contribute to the development and enhancement of analytical platforms that influence strategic decisions in the Japanese power market. The successful candidate will be involved in advanced forecasting models and the alignment of analytics with business goals.

    Main responsibilities

    This list is not exhaustive and may include other tasks assigned by the manager:

  • Data Processing and Modelling: Use Python and databases for data processing, analysis, and modelling, with a focus on the Japanese power market. Engage in advanced time series analysis for accurate forecasting.
  • Visualization and Reporting: Assist in creating dashboards and reports using data visualization tools, clearly presenting analysis results.
  • Forecasting Model Enhancement: Contribute to the innovation and enhancement of forecast models, develop analytics for understanding Japanese power market fundamentals, and apply statistical analysis and machine learning to improve forecast inputs.
  • API and Web Application Maintenance: Support the maintenance and development of APIs and web applications for our analytical platforms, ensuring they perform effectively and meet user needs.
  • 20% of this role may consist of supporting our Power scheduling operation
  • Cross-regional Analytical Support: Provide support and collaborate within the team, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration with our London office.
  • Experience required

  • Previous experience in an analytical role either from full time employment or a internship / work placement
  • Good understanding of modelling languages as below
  • Technical requirements

  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English and Japanese.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Python, with experience in database management and data visualization tools.
  • Data Science Skills: A solid understanding of time series analysis, with knowledge of data analysis, model development, and machine learning techniques.
  • Problem-solving and Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset, capable of generating actionable insights.
  • Person specification

  • Fluent in English and Japanese.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities, able to effectively contribute to a diverse and dynamic team environment.
  • Industry Knowledge: Keen interest in learning about market dynamics in relation to energy markets
