    説明

The Low-Energy Nuclear Physics Research Group (LER) of the Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory seeks an outstanding early-(RD2) or mid-career(RD3) experimental researcher to fill an open scientific staff position within the group. LER performs world-leading research in nuclear structure and reactions, nuclear astrophysics, fundamental symmetries, and nuclear data. The Group also manages and operates world-class detector systems as part of the ATLAS accelerator facility, a DOE supported national user facility for low-energy nuclear physics research. ATLAS provides accelerated stable beams at energies up to 20MeV/A as well as world-unique rare isotope beams from either the Californium Rare Ion Breeder Upgrade facility (CARIBU) or the ATLAS In-Flight facility (RAISOR). In addition, members of the group are also leading experimental programs at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB).

Information on the activities of the Group and the Division can be found at The Argonne Physics Division has programs in low energy and medium energy nuclear physics, nuclear theory, nuclear data, accelerator R&D and operates the DOE Office of Nuclear Physics National User Facility, the Argonne Tandem-Linac Accelerator System (ATLAS).

    Position Requirements

  • The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics or related field
  • Reputation in your area of research
  • Candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program, which utilizes the ATLAS facility and the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB).
  • Ability to model Argonne's core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.
  • Review of applicants will begin by August 15th, 2023

This position is posted at the RD2 (Assistant Physicist) and RD3 (Physicist) grade levels dependent on the experience of the applicant.
