Department Overview
"Logistics" is one of essential foundation for developing EC services in Rakuten Group.
- Logistics outsourcing service "Rakuten Super Logistics (RSL)" for merchants in Rakuten Ichiba
- Online bookstore "Rakuten Books"
- Online shopping site for daily necessities, health foods, pharmaceuticals, etc. "Rakuten 24" (Rakuten Direct)
- Online Fashion site that officially handles popular apparel brands, "Rakuten Fashion"
We're in charge of development, maintenance, process enhancement and launching new service for Warehouse Management System (WMS), Transportation Management System (TMS) and Collaboration with Rakuten Ichiba toward the business models which we Rakuten Group have the actual stock.
The wide ranges of services we provide requires diversity in many areas, such as personality, knowledge and working environment.
Our vision is to help the whole logistics department to become a data driven organization. We are using GCP as our data platform foundation and planning to build data analytics platform on GCP. We are proceeding with data visualization and trend predictions based on the our data to help the business side on decision making, cost optimization and so on.
We are focusing on 2 fields:
- Data Analytics and Visualization - Adopting a data-driven approach to utilize data for issue identification, resolution, and support in business strategy decision-making.
- AI Utilization- Promoting the efficiency and innovation of business processes.
Position:
Why We Hire
We need more staff to expand our services. In addition, we are building the data platform now, there is a chance to experience the data platform construction from 0 to 1 and keep improving it to 100 together with the team.
Position Details
Identify and propose solutions for improvements or "pain points" within the Rakuten initiative by engaging directly with customers, understanding their feedback, and translating it into actionable insights.
- Utilize software engineering and product management experience to drive innovation and propose better ways to meet customer requirements.
- Prioritize features and solutions within the Rakuten initiative, ensuring a customer-centric and benefit-centric approach to product development.
- Work closely with the engineering team to ensure end-to-end solutions are provided to customers.
- Bridge the communication gap between engineers and customers, providing a holistic view of technical solutions.
- Engage with the other PDM team to gather customer feedback and collaborate with engineers to design impactful solutions.
- Create and maintain documentation for customers, and/or build Proof of Concept mini-projects yourself.
Work Environment
One team consists of 9~10 members from multiple countries and covers the whole data logistics process from data ETL to visualize the data and predict the trends. We are now looking for a member class engineer.
Our team is young on GCP. There is a change to learn and build our data platform on GCP together with the team.
Development Environment
GCP, Python, SQL(such as Oracle, BigQuery), ETL, Machine Learning
Mandatory Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in data analysis or a related field
- Software engineering experience, enabling effective communication/scoping etc with the engineering team
- Tech Product Management experience, with a demonstrated ability to show initiative and propose innovative solutions based on customer requirements
- Programming skills in languages such as SQL, Python
- Business-level Japanese to facilitate communication within Rakuten stakeholders
Desired Qualifications:
Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI
- Background in Data/BI/AI-related projects to understand and contribute effectively to the technical aspects of data analytics products.
- Business-level English to facilitate communication within the team (English)
