OIST is a dynamic new graduate university of science and technology in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The university is located on 85 hectares of protected forestland overlooking beautiful shoreline and coral reefs.

Quantum Machines Unit

We are seeking talented researchers to perform experimental research in the field of hybrid quantum machines. This research focuses on the generation of macroscopic Schrödinger cats using trapped objects – either at room temperature or at cryogenic temperatures.

About the Position

• We seek experimentalists with expertise in vacuum, electronic, vibration, optical, or magnetic systems.

Requirements

• PhD in physics or a related discipline.
• Prior experience in research related to experiments/engineering related to vacuum, electronic, vibration, optical, or magnetic systems.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in automation of experiments.
• Prior experience in either optical or magnetic trapping/levitation.
