The function focuses on understanding present and future customer needs, identification of market opportunities, development and execution of marketing strategies, and programmes. The ultimate goal is to drive improvements in HSBC brand equity and contribute to customer growth, revenue growth, increase customer value and satisfaction in order to meet agreed objectives and key results.

    Role Purpose:

    • The individual will be based in Japan and work under the direct guidance of the Senior Manager in Hong Kong, Events & Roadshows in addition to working closely with the other team members within the team.
    • This role sits at the centre of the end-to-end delivery of event activities. A key challenge is to assist all activities effectively on local and regional basis to ensure satisfactory delivery of the required results in a fast-paced environment and in some cases where there is no clear cut solution. Judgement under pressure and rapid responses that do not compromise quality or compliance are essential.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    • Senior management and key business stakeholders / directors require timely, accurate and relevant access to its' key client base and competitors at numerous events and conferences – both internal and external
    • Provide advice and support to senior management and the business on the most efficient and cost effective way to achieve maximum meeting/ presentation opportunities with clients.
    • Act as central/liaison point between business areas, external clients and organisations regarding our involvement and participation at proprietary and third party events.
    • Ensure constant adherence and maintenance to pre-agreed budgets, cost measures and record keeping.
    • Ensure all events as led are run in professional manner, ensuring such events are seen as high quality events and do not result in serious reputational damage to the bank
    • Ensure all deliverable across regions are carrying the same standard disregarding physical location
    • Ensure all events as run to the highest standards. These events to be aligned with the business direction to establish HSBC's profile as the leader in the industry
    • Establish a world-class hospitality / event experience globally
    • Identify new / creative opportunities for the business as required
    • Build and maintain good relationships with various business teams to understand their needs and requirements
    • Build and maintain good relationships with various suppliers to ensure all logistic and production requirements can be met
    • Build and maintain good relationships with other business partners locally, regionally and globally
    • Work effectively with Events teams locally, regionally and globally
    • Build and maintain a strong communication network with team members and key stakeholders
    • Work with Japan and Group colleagues as required, to ensure coordinated approach are in place
    • Be part of an energetic, dynamic and coherent event team
    • Involve in raising the event management standard
    • Deliver good deadline management
    • Undertake ad-hoc projects as directed

    Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

    • Experience in managing and developing conference, roadshow and event, especially on deal and non-deal roadshows, investors trips, corporate days, preferably in a global banking industry
    • Ability to lead medium and small scale events autonomously when required
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship skills as well as good tact and diplomacy
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision, under pressure, extreme tight timeline as well as on multiple tasks simultaneously and to cover projects across different time zone
    • Proven business experience within a Financial Service based institution, or an innovative customer/service based institution. Experience in B2B marketing is preferred.
    • Strong experience in digital marketing across owned and paid channels, with experience to manage public website content and social media channels, using data and analytics to improve performance.
    • Proven understanding of customer insights and their role in marketing strategy development and delivery as well as marketing communications development.
    • Experience within a hectic and pressured working environment is preferable
    • Self-initiated to resolve issues
    • Committed to the completion of work tasks within timeline given
    • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and proven rapid learning capability
    • Excellent time management and prioritization skill
    • Strong team player, cooperative, collaborative with positive, willing to learn and share attitude, embracing HSBC value and code of conduct
